A little bit of research pointed to MyBackupPro as one of the preferred solutions. It’s quite reasonably priced ($3.99 as of this writing), so we invested in it.
He had no problems creating backups, but when he tried to restore to the new phone, it couldn’t find the backup. A little research and fiddling determined that he was correctly backing up to the SDCard in his old phone, but the new phone was trying to restore from its internal memory.
It took a bit of research and trial and error, but we figured it out. I thought I’d share it here in hopes of saving others the trouble.
Once we knew what the do, the fix was fairly simple:
- Start MyBackupPro
- Press the “Settings” button on the phone to enter the MyBackupPro settings
- Click on Backup Location
- Change the location from /storage/sdcard0 to /storage/extSdCard (note that capitalization does matter; also note that’s a zero. /storage/sdcard0 is the internal storage, and /storage/extSdCard is the Micro SD card slot. These settings work for the Note 2, and I suspect they’ll work for most Samsung phones).
- Exit the settings menu
I hope that helps! Please leave comments below to let me know if it works for you or if you have any questions.
