Who are your clients?
My clients are very good at what they do, but they often struggle with the business side of things. Sometimes it’s because they don’t know the right steps, and sometimes it’s because they know what to do, but they just aren’t getting it done.And they certainly don’t want to spend their time and energy figuring out how to outsmart their technology..
How do you work? What can I expect?
We will work together to identify the areas where we can make changes to grow your business. I’ll introduce tools to help with those changes. But while I love technology, I don’t want to foist it on you. If a technology tool is appropriate, I’ll introduce it. In some cases, this may mean learning how to use a new app or program. In other cases, it may mean learning to be more efficient with the tools you already have.
What if I’m not real comfortable with technology?
First, let’s be very clear that I am not going to try to get you to use technology for technology’s sake. Most of my clients do not feel overly comfortable with technology. Many know they need to use it, but they’ve had bad experiences in the past.
Personally, I love technology. New technologies usually come pretty easy to me, and I enjoy learning about new technologies. But I realize everyone is not that way. My passion is recognizing where technology is truly helpful, and helping others learn to benefit from it. But I realize that technology doesn’t always work as well as it should, and sometimes it’s overkill for the task at hand.
Are you a technology expert?
Well, I don’t know that question really has an answer. Technology is constantly evolving, so “expert” is kind of a fluid label. However, I think I’ve always enjoyed tinkering with technology. For example, in sixth grade, I became fascinated with computers. I read about computers, earned my Boy Scout Computer merit badge, did school projects about computers… I was so taken with computers that eventually my mother forbade me to say the word “computer” (which I worked around by saying “that word Mom won’t let me say” and then continuing on with my story)
After graduating from college with a double major in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, I worked in software development for about 15 years, then transitioned into management, systems engineering, and technical sales. I earned an MBA along the way.
I’ve always enjoyed researching new technologies and learning as much about them as I can. I guess that’s why I ended up being the “family IT director” and a “go to” guy for friends and coworkers.
What kind of technology can you help me with?
My systems work with any type technology. However, I have the most experience (and am most effective) with Apple OS X (Mac) and iOS (iPhone and iPad).
Why can't I just sign up for one session with you?
I am not the guy that “parachutes in” takes control of your computer, and fixes it. (I have friends who do that, if that’s what you need).
I am the guy who can help you learn to apply technology easily and effectively to grow your business and get more clients. But this process takes a small investment of time up front. First, I want to understand your business and your needs so that we can work on the correct solutions.
Secondly, it takes time to learn new habits. By working in multiple sessions, you will have the time to learn new tools and techniques, practice applying them, and be sure you are reaping their benefits.
What results can I expect?
Well, everyone’s results are different. Let me be clear that you will have to do some work to truly reap the benefits. I can show you new systems, apps and techniques, but if you don’t apply them — and don’t develop the habits to apply them consistently — you won’t achieve the full extent of the benefits.
